Male Cat, Domestic Short Hair
Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (Short Coat)
Description:
Iggy is a stunning, sleek, muscular, smoky gray, older kitten with fur as soft as velvet and a majestic white star on his chest. He and his brother, Yoshi were part of a TNR project but quickly let us know they wanted the good life inside, so they sport the jaunty ear tip of a community cat but have quickly learned the ropes and are now official house cats. Iggy loves to play, he will play all day if you have the time and energy and will sit and watch his foster mom while she finishes up chores because he knows that he is next on the list! Iggy is an accomplished hunter and uses his amazing athleticism to leap in the air and catch his toy prey, dragging it off to his lair under the dining table. When playtime is over, Iggy will sit near his human and snooze away until it’s time to play again. Iggy is very smart and understands a lot of what is said to him in human speak. Iggy is a little cautious at first around humans he doesn’t know yet, but once he knows he can trust you (because you have learned that Churu meat tubes, tons of play time and kitty treats are the way to his heart), he will show you how much he loves pets and scritches from the safety of his window perch, or will rub against your hand with his cheek any time food might be on offer! Iggy will stand up on your lap to lick Churu meat treats and will gently take a treat from your hand. Iggy loves to watch the birds at the bird feeder, sitting in sun patches, climbing the tall cat tower and chasing and wrestling with his brother Yoshi to whom he is strongly bonded. He is a strong, athletic kitty who is still evolving and would do well with older, gentle children who can respect his boundaries, and a cat savvy adopter who has the time and patience to build a trusting relationship with him. Iggy would do best in a predictable, low key, home environment with plenty of enrichment, and an adopter who understands that Iggy will need a safe “base camp” and some hiding spots at first until he feels confident enough to have the run of the house. Dogs are untested. Iggy’s estimated date of birth is mid-April, 2024. Kitty Bio #980EP-Ig. If you're interested in adopting this or another of our cats, please fill out our adoption questionnaire at https://icraeastbay.org/adopt/how-to/.
