Female Cat, Turkish Van
Turkish Van / Mixed (Medium Coat)
Description:
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Visiting Room:3Introducing Trooper! Isn’t she gorgeous? Trooper is a very special girl looking for a special adopter. This stunning 2-year-old is a Turkish Van, a rare breed known for their distinctive “inverted V” head coloring; intelligence; large, athletic build; love of water; bushy tail; and coat that feels like cashmere. True to her breed, Trooper is energetic and playful, loving (within limits) but also independent, and prefers being the only cat in her household. This girl will need room to roam and perches to leap to, lots of playtime and interactive toys to keep her body fit and her brain occupied, and a cat- and child-free home with experienced adopters who will give her lots of affection but can also read her signals when she’s had enough. Trooper has some skin issues, so she’ll also need a guardian who’ll work in partnership with their veterinarian to help manage them. Her dermatitis is likely caused by allergies—whether to fleas, environmental irritants, or certain foods—so keeping it in check may entail regular flea treatment, oral or topical medications, and/or a special diet. Trooper is a lot of cat with a lot of requirements for her human—and a lot of love to give in return. If you’re up for serving this regal queen, stop by soon to meet her!
