Description:
Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application. If you would like to try a Foster to Adopt trial, please fill out an Adoption Application. If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application. NOTE:Penelop is THE longest resident at ARWOB spending most of her short life with us. She would love to find her own home with loving humans to love. Ask us about our foster to adopt 2-3 week trials! (submit an application to adopt and under the comments mention you'd like to foster with intent to adopt)Meet Penelope! Penelope is a petite, brown/white tabby who was rescued from the streets of Ensenada, Mexico in March 2022. Adorable Penlope aka Penny has been under the care of ARWOB since she was rescued. Hopefully, 2023 is HER year and we can finally find an amazing forever family for this goofy special beauty! Penny is currently being fostered by a long-term foster family who have cared for this girl since 10/25/2022. The foster family consists of 2 adults and a senior large breed dog (an adorable greyhound seen through many of her biography pictures, super cute!) in an apartment setting. Penny's foster mom has this to say about her: Penelope is the smartest cat I've ever fostered. She loves to play, gets along great with my dog, and is very social and friendly. She is not shy and enjoys meeting new people in her foster home. She likes to follow her foster dad around and race him into whatever room he is walking into and is very energetic. Her favorite toy is, of course, the laser pointer! Penelope also enjoys doing "zoomies" and finding new nooks to climb into and explore. When it's bedtime, she likes to snuggle up against you or your legs. She loves taking naps with you or sleeping on the bed with you and she likes to visit you when you're in the shower. She loves head and chin scritches, She tries to get away with whatever she can so you have to correct her, but she knows the rules - she just tries to push the limits. She's really fun, but she can also be mouthy and give little bites (not hard ones) if she wants something or if she's just being mischievous when being petted, so young kids are not recommended. She is a bit of a "tomboy" and tends to be a little sassy and doesn't enjoy being picked up and carried around, but she will let you pick her up for a cuddle and LOVES to sit near you when she is relaxing. She is extremely sweet, though, but it's important to understand her body language as she sometimes ramps up her sassiness, so an experienced, cat savvy person is needed She’s such a full of life, strong and active kitty that sometimes we forget she’s an adult and not a kitten as you can see from the pictures her foster sister “Olive” a senior, adorable greyhound who has been putting up with A LOT since Penelope came to her home to be fostered. Penelope just keeps popping out of nowhere!!!! Such a little trickster and her foster sister Olive gets the brunt of it (See pics) Penny had been fostered in the past at Casa de ARWOB where there are multiple cats and dogs of all ages and sizes. She did fine in that environment, played with some, ignored others, and didn't have a great relationship with others. The biggest requirement for her well matched forever dream home is a home where kitty shenanigans are enjoyed because this girl will absolutely make you laugh with her weird and funny antics!!! Her adopter must have a cat tree and lots, and lots of toys!! Like all our feline rescues, Penny is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all medical and is a strong, healthy, young cat. We test our felines for retroviral diseases. She is FELV negative. Heartworm Negative and FIV (Feline immunodeficiency virus) POSITIVE which means she can be adopted into any home: A home with other FIV positive kitties or a home with FIV negative felines or a home with no other cats. FIV only affects cats, no other species. Can you adopt Penelope if you have other cats in the home? ABSOLUTELY.. Would your cat be at risk of being infected by FIV? The risk is exceptionally low. Transmission is mostly through blood. For information that can answer any questions you may have about FIV to help you determine if Penelope is the right choice for you and your family, please click the link below for a short and thorough summary of FIV.
