Date of Birth:Adoption Fee: $150.00Date Posted: 1/22/25Hi! I’m Cranberry, Berry for short. I was brought into an animal control facility with my three siblings as a tiny kitten. I had a really bad eye injury that the nice people at the shelter thought would mean I would lose my eye. That sounds scary! They wanted to save it so they started giving me medicated eye drops. To everyone’s surprise, my eye healed very nicely! I do have a little scarring which is the gray spot you see but it doesn’t cause me any visual impairments at all. Life was going great! Once I was big enough, I was adopted with one of my sisters. I thought it was going to be amazing having one of my sisters at my new home with me. Instead, my new home turned out to be a very frightening place. The humans had a lot of other pets that weren’t very happy I was there. I’m a lover, not a fighter, so I became very submissive to them. They took that to mean they could beat me up and keep me away from the food. It took my new humans three whole weeks to realize I was losing weight and had gotten very sick. They took me back to animal control because they couldn’t afford to take me to a vet. The people at animal control said I had lost more than 3/4 of my body weight. I was just skin and bones at a little over a pound! They ran blood work. There was nothing wrong except my body had been starved for so long that it was starting to shut down. The vet said I may need to be euthanized. I didn't know what that meant but it sounded really bad. One of the nurses decided to give me a chance because she saw LIGHT in my EYES. She took me home to give me all the special care I needed. For the first time in my young life, I really knew what it felt like to be LOVED. That nurse, my foster mom, has been giving me all the love and attention every animal deserves, especially gentle survivors like me. She gives me a good dry food called Purina Pro Plan Kitten so that I continue to gain weight and stay healthy with no tummy issues. Foster mom says that I am now a healthy girl! It took me a little while to start trusting new humans but especially other animals again. Now I see that other kitties and even big doggies can be my very best friends! I really love playing with the kittens my foster mom brings home! I feel extra confident around them. I especially adore little Simon. We play and snuggle together. He needs me just as much as I need him. It would be so great to go to my forever home with my sweet little buddy. I will be a great companion for the humans who choose to love me. I need a family that understands I have had a really rough start to life. I just want to be with humans, as well as kitty or doggy friends, that truly care for me and will never let me suffer again. Please come see me soon...I am excited to meet you!
