Description:

Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/ ***Please note: Jason and Jasper have Cerebellar Hypoplasia, which is a medical condition. Before applying to adopt them, please read the full bio and reach out to ARF if you have any questions.*** Jason (black Siamese mix) and Jasper (lynx point Siamese mix) are siblings who have been together their entire life. They are looking for one home where they can grow old together. They are a bonded pair because they love each other and they understand each other. And they love everyone else—be it dog, cat, or human. There has not been anyone or anything that they haven’t immediately shown affection to. If you are looking for an aloof cat, a timid cat, or a cat not affectionate at any time day or night—these are not the cats for you because they are just too friendly and loving. Jason and Jasper both have CH (Cerebellar Hypoplasia), better known as drunken cats. It is the feline version of Cerebral Palsy. Their mind is completely normal just as other cats; the problem they have is that their body doesn’t respond normally to signals sent to their muscles by their brain. Thus the drunken cat nickname - they tend to stagger around the house, typically overreacting when playing with a feather on a string, or when trying to catch a red light from a laser toy when light is focused on the floor. They will need to be adopted by someone who understands that they will need different care from a normal cat. If you’re interested but want to learn more, we are more than happy to talk to you about what having a cat with CH means and the best way to take care of them! Just as you are starting to think, poor kitty—don’t!! They don't know life any differently, and they probably enjoy the fact that they get double the attention wherever they are when contrasted to any other cats or dogs. They would appreciate pet steps to help them get onto the bed or sofa, but even with no steps they will figure out a way to climb up to get to the best spot in the house—next to you. Could you be their forever home? Prepare to fall in love and to get a lot of love in return! Jason and Jasper are microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations, neutered, and litter box trained. Jason and Jasper’s adoption fee is $135 total for the two. We really want them to find a great home, which is why the adoption fee is reduced from our normal price. If you are interested in meeting Jason and Jasper or if you have further questions, please fill out our Online Application today or contact ARF. Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting. Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/ Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events. Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop!
