Female Cat, Tabby

Tabby / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (Short Coat)

Description:

Lira is a friendly and sweet girl that is learning that she loves being in a home with people where she can get pets, snuggles, play time, and all the treats she wants! She can be initially a little shy during the first meeting, but if you go slow to introduce yourself to her, she will then be your best friend! She’s super friendly, loves pets & to be held! Lira loves every toy under the sun. String toys, laser pointer, ball track toys, ping-pong balls, springs – she’s never met a toy she wouldn’t play with! She has an adorable little squeaky meow and likes to let you know when you’re not paying her enough attention. Her brown, striped fur is incredibly soft, and she’s also a very clean girl who uses the litter box perfectly. Lira is very curious and likes to follow her people everywhere and watch everything they do. Lira would prefer to be in a calmer, quieter home. She’s not overly shy, but she can get spooked by loud noises or fast movements. She would love to be in a home with another friendly cat to play and cuddle with! Preferably, she would love to be adopted with her brother, Peso. They love each other so much, and he really depends on her guidance and confidence. She likely would not do well in a home with young, energetic. Only older, respectful children or a quieter household with adults for this girl! We have not seen her interact with dogs, but she would likely learn to do well with a respectful, calm dog after slow introductions. Lira is from a stray surrender with her brother. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals. Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.
