HISTORY: BUSTER was an FIV positive stray when rescued by a kind-hearted neighbor who saw that he needed food and shelter. TEMPERAMENT: BUSTER was initially taken to a shelter. Because they assumed he was feral, the shelter planned to return him to where he was found. But his rescuer could see that BUSTER was really just very, very scared and in need of time to adjust. He was transferred to F&F where he quickly learned to trust his caregivers. Within two months, he was rubbing against visitors, seeking head rubs and attention. He is still getting comfortable with being picked up. BUSTER has shown himself to be a friendly guy, with both human and felines friends, and he's ready for an indoor-only home of his very own. While conventional thinking is to only place an FIV+ cat in a home with no other cats or with another FIV+ cat, there are many “mixed households.” According to Cornell University, the primary mode of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) transmission is through repeated fights resulting in the exchange of blood, and it poses no threat to humans or other species.
