Male Cat, Domestic Short Hair

Domestic Short Hair (Medium Coat)

Description:

Are you looking for a lap cat but hate litter boxes? Do you like to travel with your cat but hate the inconvenience of packing a litterbox and litter to bring with you? Arlo might be just the cat you're looking for!Arlo is one of our special needs cats. He was born with moderate Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH), also known as wobbly kitten syndrome. He is not very steady on his feet and cannot use a litter box without falling into his own waste, so he has been diaper trained (Huggies Overnights size 3). His foster mom also has a special needs cat that is diaper trained and said that Arlo does fantastic with the diapers and is easy to change and clean. Arlo is a purr machine and loves to hang out with his foster mom on the couch or bed and watch TV in the evenings. He has a lot to say when it comes to other cats and dogs, but he is all noise. He will give love bites and because of the CH, sometimes the love bite will be a little harder than he planned. For that reason, he would not do well in a home with preteen children. CH is a birth defect usually caused by a momma cat giving her fetus panleukopenia invitro. He will not get worse or better and CH does not affect their live span. Arlo likes his independence and while there are things like diapers and a feeding station that can make his life and yours a little easier, it's important that he is allowed to be a cat. He doesn't walk well on floors without carpet or rugs. It's important that he be able to walk on his own to ensure that his muscles do not atrophy. He cannot have access to stairs in a home. `If you are interested in learning more about Arlo or scheduling a time to visit, please email his foster mom at: [email protected]. You can also follow the foster's FaceBook page: Beyond Joyce's Foster Care to see photos and videos of this and other kittens/cats in the care of this foster home.
