Description:

An approved adoption application is required to meet me in my foster home -- fill out an application today! Our mailing address is Reston, VA and our cats fostered in NoVA and DC homes. Washington, D.C.- Suburban Virginia/Maryland Area inquiries only, please! Roger is an outgoing gentleman with a curious temperament and a total love for human companionship. He is the kind of cat that welcomes you home enthusiastically and wants to be invited to sit on your lap for a snuggle. He’s even been caught snuggling with a calm dog in his foster home. This older dog has no interest but Roger is not letting this disinterest get him down! He is busy enjoying his food puzzle and throwing his toys around and socializing with his humans. Roger has FIV, but that’s not the only positive thing about him! He is confident, gently affectionate even with strangers, and enjoys exploring. He is very food motivated and intelligent to boot. Roger would love a home with another friendly animal and a home where he will have a lot of time with his humans. The FIV virus is not a reason not to adopt! It is not transmissible to people or to non-cat species and is not a death sentence. It simply reduces a cat's immune system as the cat ages, which can leave the cat more vulnerable to other feline infections later in life. Cat to cat transmission does not occur with casual contact and it is not airborne. Cats who are FIV+ live long, happy lives! Please check out the below informational links about FIV to understand why it is not a reason to shy away from adopting: https://www.fivcats.com/FIV/fiv_introduction.html https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/cornell-feline-health-center/health-information/feline-health-topics/feline-immunodeficiency-virus-fiv
