Female Cat, Domestic Short Hair

Domestic Short Hair (Short Coat)

Description:

From her foster mom: Abracadara, like so many other foster kittens, needed some downtime after she had been at the shelter for two months and then at Petsmart for three weeks. Why does she need adjustment time, you might ask? Two months is a long part of a cat’s life. If you’re only seven months old that’s almost a third of your life right there spent in a cage. She didn’t handle contact with other cats well, and hissed and smacked at them when she first saw them in her foster home. There’s a very fine line on how long to keep a cat in a cage, and how much they can deal with until they can be normalized. As her Foster Mom, I’m enjoying getting to know her, and the other cats seemed to be aware that she needed space and time to adjust. I’m not sure she will ever be a very affectionate cat, but she has started jumping on my lap now when I sit down, and is greeting me when I see her during the day. She gets overstimulated easily, so I take my time with her, trying not to push her too hard, and letting her make the contact if she wants attention. I feel sure she’s going to be absolutely fine and will soon be able to be adopted! PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA.
