Male Dog, Australian Kelpie
Australian Kelpie (Long Coat)
Description:
Ruger (A136918) is a 4-year-old Kelpie who weighed nearly 70 lbs at intake!12/23/24 Ruger was brought back to the shelter after being to much energy for the previous owner. We recommend that his next home understands he needs plenty of physical and mental enrichment to help with his habits. If you are interested in meeting Ruger, please give the shelter a call!12/14/24 Ruger was adopted after just an hour or two at the shelter and then brought back after just a couple hours due to going after the cat in the home. We would like to remind everyone that introductions need to be done in a safe and slow manner. Fear Free Pets has a lot of great resources on proper introductions. Due to this apparent prey drive, we recommend Ruger's next home not have any smaller animals, such as cats or pocket pets. If you are interested ing being Mister Ruger's forever home, please give the shelter a call!12/14/24 This handsome guy is Ruger, and he was brought to the shelter with his buddy Abu because their previous owner was not able to arrange travel for them out of state. Ruger was described as being a chill, outgoing and friendly guy. He is said to get along with children and female dogs, but he does not like other male dogs. He is used to be loose in the house when left alone and was said to be pretty easy going. We would like to remind people that there is an adjustment period when introducing new dogs into any home. Ruger was said to be housebroken and will go to the door to indicate he needs to go. He was said to ride well in the car, but he could stand to learn some manners, as he has been known to jump on people. He has also been known to be vocal on occasion and to dig and scratch. Making sure Ruger has plenty of physical and mental enrichment can help with these habits. If you are interested in meeting Mister Ruger, please give the shelter a call!
