Description:
Roxy was recently returned because she was too strong for her adopter and will need some training. Roxy is a very sweet and affectionate dog who is very loyal to her family. She can be shy when meeting for the first time and usually stays glued to shelter staff until she gets to know you a little better! Since Roxy can be nervous in new environments and takes a moment to adjust she may not be the right fit for someone who is new to owning a dog. Roxy has lived with other dogs and did great with them. She also has not been reactive towards other dogs in the shelter. We can always provide a dog meet and greet prior to adopting if needed! Roxy was previously a family dog - she was originally surrendered because her family was moving and not able to bring her with. Roxy is friendly with children; however, she loves treats and will grab quickly, so it is best she not be around small children until she learns to take treats slowly. Roxy is very loving and is said to be a hugger! We have seen first hand that this is true! Please don't be discouraged if she isn't ready for a hug when you first meet her. Roxy is said to be potty trained and would sit at the door when she needs to go potty. She is also crate trained but was usually free to roam the home when alone and she was never known to be destructive towards household items. She was given the option to sleep in her crate at night and tend to treat it like her own little bedroom! Roxy does walk well on a leash and knows the cues âsitâ, âdownâ, âoffâ, âtreatâ, âcomeâ and ânoâ. Roxy is a medium energy dog who will thrive best with regular exercise. She enjoys playing and her favorite toys are bones and anything rubber! Roxy does not enjoy the cold and will be more than happy to be pampered and spoiled. Roxy is an incredibly good girl who just needs to be shown some patience while she adapts to her new home. If you feel that Roxy may be a good fit for your home we would love for you to come by and meet her!
