Valentine is a very sweet, loving, girl once she trusts you. She is highly active and will love a home where someone can run with her, hike with her, or have a marathon ball throwing session. She can be overly protective of her owner, so she will need some training once adopted and she will require someone who is capable of being able to physically handle/restrain her. She would benefit from being socialized with people and other dogs. This breed is loyal and loving and highly alert. Please do your research on the breed to ensure that she goes to a forever home. Valentine is completely different out of her kennel, so please ask to see her in the yard, you will be pleasantly surprised by how lovely she is.Valentine is NOT a dog to miss. One look in her small and expressive brown eyes, and you will see the purest thing in the world: LOVE. Sheâs aptly named. Here's what a Shelter volunteer had to say about Valentine:Got the pleasure of taking my lovely friend Valentine on a groovy long walk today. Sheâs still in foster with the wonderous @h_wag and is hoping to find her forever home soon. Val is so super pretty, does well on leash and loves to explore. Sheâs not a fan of stairs (esp the open rise kind- scary), is still learning to wait at crosswalks, and doesnât at all love sharp/loud noises. Val is still learning to trust and is particularly skeptical of men, groups of runners coming towards her and motorcycles. With time, consistency and behavioral adjustments through training sheâll find new relationships with all those things. Sheâs not for a first time dog owner- an experienced human who understands the need for consistent training, routine, keeping her sharp mind busy and exercise needs met will be the perfect match. Sheâs incredibly loving (almost knocked me over with love when I picked her up after not seeing her for a couple of weeks) and bonds strongly to her people. Shes whip smart, goofy, and sweet- but also protective and loyal.
