If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered. Adoption Fee: $600 Flan is an 8 year old, 10-lb Shih Tzu-Lhasa Apso mix who’s as sweet as dessert and just as comforting! Like the classic treat he’s named after, Flan is a smooth, easygoing gentleman ready to sweeten up your life. Surrendered to the shelter with some of his culinary companions, Flan caught our hearts with his soulful eyes and chill demeanor. We couldn’t resist scooping him up and promising him a forever family that appreciates a refined palate and an even more refined pup. Looking for a best friend who’s equal parts cuddly and cool? Order up some Flan—you won’t regret it! Flan’s got the best of both breeds: the affectionate, loyal nature of a Shih Tzu and the independent, adaptable charm of a Lhasa Apso. He’s an expert at relaxing but also perks up for playtime with his beloved squeaky toys and a good game of fetch (though he might pull a fast one and keep the ball for himself). His favorite hobby? Taking his toys to his bed to enjoy them in comfort. Flan is a champion leash walker, loves sunshine strolls, and can turn any window into “dog TV,” happily watching the world go by for hours. When the day winds down, he’ll happily nap beside you—or on you—so you’re never short on snuggles. This little guy has excellent house manners. Flan prefers to potty outside but will use a pee pad if needed, and his foster reports he’s stopped territory marking indoors. When he’s ready to call it a night, Flan puts himself to bed in his crate (or anyone else's if it looks cozy enough) and can sleep a full eight hours before his morning potty break. He grazes on meals, politely letting other dogs finish his food—but don’t think about touching his cookies! He’s known for hiding his treats under blankets like a true treasure hoarder. Flan’s communication skills are top-notch. He uses a soft, grumbly noise to say “no,” but charmingly enough, he makes the same sound with a tail wag to say “yes.” Flan currently lives with multiple dogs and cats and gets along with them all, making him a great companion for homes with other pets. While he loves meeting new people and is a fantastic canine ambassador, Flan thrives best in an adult-only home where his laid-back vibe can truly shine. If you’re looking for a low-maintenance, affectionate, and entertaining friend to sweeten your days, Flan is your guy. Why settle for ordinary when you can have Flan—a treat that never melts and always warms your heart? Flan is an option for homes with prior dog experience. Kids should be over the age of 12.
