Female Dog, Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler

Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / American Bulldog / Mixed (Medium Coat)

Description:

03/29/25 18:14 Dexy's foster mom says she is a sweet and playful girl who loves to play fetch and tug, sniff around the garden, sunbathe on a warm day, and take long walks around the neighborhood. Dexy likes soft toys, squeakers, Kongs (she’s a super chewer), and chuck-it balls. She also loves tennis balls, but she can destroy them quickly so monitoring her while she uses toys is important. Dexy’s foster also did an Embark DNA and Health test where she found out Dexy is half Australian Cattle Dog and Border Collie, the other half American Bulldog and mix of other bully breeds. Dexy’s foster mom is happy to share the Embark results with her adopter, as well as any pictures and favorite toys from their time together.Dexy is food motivated, crate-trained, and mostly house-trained. She will go into her crate at bedtime, when her foster mom leaves for work, and before mealtime. When a new person comes over, Dexy barks for a few minutes, so her foster mom keeps her in her crate and gives her treats for a minute or two before Dexy comes out and happily greets the person; there is some jumping and spinning in her greetings. Dexy is an exuberant puppy who will be a wonderful dog with a family who is dedicated to her training.Dexy would thrive as an only dog. She has not been around small children or cats. She should not be in a home with pet chickens. Introducing her to a lower energy or shy dog may be challenging. Dexy resource guards her food and toys against the senior dog in her foster home, but allows her humans to handle her food while she is eating and take her toys from her mouth with no problem. Dexy also guards against the resident dog getting up on the couch when she is already there with her favorite human. This could likely improve with training and pro-active management, or perhaps even a family with more than one human. Dexy is still a learning puppy slated to be a wonderful, active, and playful companion.
