Meet Gunner, the pit-bull mix. Gunner came into the Shelter after his previous guardian was unable to continue caring for him. Gunner has a history of living in a home with his siblings and some adult dogs, adults and children under 12 years old. He is a fairly typical adolescent dog that is looking for an active adopter to provide above average mental and physical stimulation. He knows âsitâ, âstayâ, and âlay downâ and would love to continue learning new things with his future guardian through R+ training. His previous guardian reports that he rides nicely in the car and enjoys cuddling up on the couch with his people. At the Shelter, staff have observed that Gunner is a ball of energy but has a soft, sweet side (giving kisses once he is calm and with a human companion). He has been observed to come on pretty strong when meeting new dogs but with a well matched canine companion and a thoughtful introduction, Gunner may succeed or Gunner may thrive as the only pet in the home. We do not have any history of Gunner with cats or small animals. As the athletic guy he is, Gunner should not be left outdoors unattended as he has some skill of escaping not-so-secure or high fencing.Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
