Female Dog, Black Mouth Cur
Black Mouth Cur / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (Medium Coat)
Description:
Meet Iris, the Black Mouth Cur x German Shepherd mix. Iris came to the Shelter as an owner surrender after her previous guardian was unable to continue caring for her. Iris previously lived in a home with teenagers, men, women and seniors. She lived outdoors in her previous home and may need some patience in the transition into the adoptive home. In her previous home, she lived with other dogs (relatives to her). A home with a canine companion may be a fit provided they meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. Irisâ previous guardian recommended her to not live with cats, small animals or chickens due to some previously observed prey drive. She does well riding in the car. Iris is still learning life skills and manners (think leash walking and house training) so she would thrive with a patient adopter that will bond with her through force free/+R training. A home with a fenced in backyard will be the best fit as it will aid in potty training process while Iris learns that walking on leash is not so scary. At 47 lbs, Iris is a great size for an active guardian who is looking for a big personality in a medium package. Now through February 15th, you can âAdopt Your Valentineâ with adoption fees reduced to $50. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter and microchips. Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
