Meet Joey, the Frenchie mix! Joey came into the Shelter via a good Samaritan who found him gallivanting at Seabright beach with no guardian. Joey was initially a bit shy upon arrival and not appreciating the Shelter as much as his beach vacation. With time and patience, he learned that staff and volunteers are pretty cool. As he relaxed, we saw that he was easy to leash up, loose and wiggly when interacting and enjoyed zoomies and playing fetch in the Shelter exercise yards. Joey met another Frenchie mix (female) and after lots of sniffing, solicited some play. Joey enjoys playing with toys and is ready to be someoneâs hiking/running buddy. If you are looking for a small dog with a big personality â come meet Joey today!Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
