Description:
Meet Kylie, the terrier mix. Kylie initially came into the Shelter as a shy stray with her sister (who has since been adopted). She spent time in a home environment for about a week with a mother and her 8 year old son. She was nervous and fearful in the transition but after a couple days, she warmed up. Kylie did find some people that visited the home a bit spooky and generally needs time to adjust to new people and things. She will thrive in an adoptive home that will takes things slow and allow a period of decompression where she can learn that the people and environment she will hang out in is safe. Then slowly and thoughtfully, adopters can introduce to new people and places in a way that is not too overwhelming and involves lots of positive reinforcement to create positive associations. Kylie is very much a puppy and still learning house training and leash walking but has started making strides in her temporary spot. Sheâs now back at the Shelter and ready to find the right adoptive home. Could that be you? Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
