Catahoula Leopard Dog / Mixed (Medium Coat)
Description:
Meet Maggie!-1 year, 8 month old spayed female Catahoula mix (Catahoula mix is simply a guess!)-Weighs 70lbs-Previously lived in a home with a family including small breed dog (chihuahua) -Crate and house trained in her previous home-Not recommended to live with cats due to history of chasing-Has befriended dogs at the Shelter including her current Shelter dog friend BroncoCurrently in a foster home. Her foster reports: `I cannot say enough good things about Maggie. From the second she came home with me from the shelter for foster, she has been nothing but polite, calm, cuddly, and one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met! She knows sit, down, shake, and wait, and shows so much potential for learning even more. She also has great food motivation, but is still respectful when accepting treats or having her meals set down. She sleeps the entire night in her own bed on the floor, but loves to come up on the bed to say hi and get cuddles and belly rubs before bedtime. I donât have experience with her in a crate or being left alone for long periods of time yet, but I think both are something that she will be willing and able to work on. When on walks, she is very polite, doesnât pull, waits to cross streets, and is non-reactive when going near other dogs. She does have a tendency to get a bit excited when seeing squirrels or cats, but has shown a lot of self control and could easily be worked with on this. She is more timid around men than women, but warms up very quickly and still is polite and sweet to everyone she meets. I hope she finds her forever home quickly, as she really is a one in a million dog!âNow through December 17th, BISSELL Pet Foundations is sponsoring reduced adoption fees and we are participating! Adoption fees for all cats and dogs are reduced to $50.Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
