Meet Otis, the cattle dog mix! Otis is a senior guy (9 years old) who has a heart of gold. He has lived in a home with a family – including 5 and 7 year old children and did well. Otis may enjoy a mellow canine companion, life as the only pup OR in a home with his “sister” Hazel. Otis is looking for a feline free home. He enjoys going for walks and sunbathing in a quiet environment. Having indoor/outdoor access (such as through a doggy door) is Otis’ ideal housing set up. As an older dog, Otis will require more frequent vet visits to ensure he stays in tip top shape. Our veterinary staff have observed he has a stiff walk and occasional limp that could be impacted by arthritis and/or his weight. Adopters are recommended to consult with their veterinarian on a weight loss program to help Otis stay more comfortable and active in the years to come. Otis' adoption has been sponsored by a generous donor. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
