Description:
Meet Prince, the medium sized herding-type dog. Prince came into the Shelter as a shy stray and, thanks to staff and volunteer dedication, has gained some much good experience learning that the world is not so scary. He is currently in a foster home with adults and a large breed resident dog. They report: âHe is doing SO well. We have been having so much fun, and he and Maggie have been getting along great. I already feel like I have seen him grow more confident and trusting in the last few days. Heâs been a very good boy and clearly wants to do the right thing. Sometimes on walks he is a bit shy meeting new people and gets spooked by loud noises, but he seems to get better each walk. Weâve been lots of places and have been enjoying each others company.â Prince would thrive in a home with another dog friend as it helps him feel safer navigating the world. This animalâs adoption fee is sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation thanks to âLeave No One Behind fundâ â a fund that draws adopterâs eyes towards animals who have been in the Shelterâs care a little longer than average waiting for the right adopter to call their best friend. Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
