Description:
Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application. Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website. We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run. We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have. Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.General Notes | Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Hi there! I'm Dexter, or Donut, or honestly, anything you want to call me as long as you have food for me! I'm a healthy, happy, and active puppy so am still learning the ropes when it comes to commands and what is expected of me. I will say I have mastered the art of napping soundly while my humans work from home though, so I'm on the right track! I am a sweet guy looking for a home and humans that will help me with my training, help me burn off some puppy energy in a large yard, and help me develop into the dog I'm meant to be. A home with other dogs would be so beneficial to me (and you!) as well, as I take my cues from them and learn what to or not to do to!Other Dogs | Yes please! I'm a social guy, and did wonderfully with my TX foster and her pack of dogs! When I have something separating me from other dogs I can get confused and reactive, which is very common when coming from a situation/life where I never had anything preventing me from being able to say hello. I do get anxious when a fence or leash separates me from other potential dog friends, and would benefit greatly from an adopter with calming energy willing to work with me on this. Cats | I haven't spent much time around cats to be fair, but I do like to chase things that are small and fast when outside so I may not be the best roomie for a cat if you have one.Children | I'm currently living with 4yr old twins and do wonderfully with them. I'm very gentle and try hard to not play too rough. I am still a puppy though so do nip and nibble when I get excited!Training | I am eager to please and will do so well once I have some structure and consistency with my training. When I came to CO I was a very blank slate, so I do need help with the basics. I pick things up quickly and just need consistency. And food. Food helps. Big fan of that!Leash | This is very new to me and I've not yet mastered what is expected of me here. I pull and can be vocal, but this is all very fixable. Activity Level | Active. Don't get me wrong, I love a good nap and I'm a great sleeper. But, I love to play and want to please so love to be around my humans entertaining them! I would do best in a yard with a high fence. I also love toys, puzzles, games, you name it, to help stimulate my developing brain. I love anything I can chew on - this can keep me busy for awhile if you need to ever not have me act as your shadow (which, I don't know why you'd not want, but still...)Health Notes | I'm healthy and up to date on all my vaccines!Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
