Description:

Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application. Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website. We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run. We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have. Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.General Notes | Potty trained, crate trained, playful but gentle - Carrie is a dream after being saved from a hoarding situation with 71 other dogs, trapped and starving in crates in a school bus in Texas. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Carrie is the gentlest girl with silkiest, softest coat and the sweetest personality! She is super sweet and just wants to be near you. Carrie is learning how to play with toys and loves all dogs. She constantly gives her new foster family kisses and love to show them her gratitude!Story | Carrie was one of the 71 dogs saved from a hoarding situation on a school bus in Texas. She has a little weight to gain but is otherwise healthy. A bystander outside of Galveston, Texas, noticed loud noises coming from a school bus and camper in a state park. When support arrived, what they uncovered was a horrific animal hoarding situation, including 71 dogs in crates stacked to the celing and on top of one another. All of the dogs were emaciated, covered in their own feces, and very obviously not taken care of. More than 30 were taken to the Houston ASCPA for medical treatment. Sweet Elizabeth girl made her way to a MHLM foster in TX! Now she is living the good life, adjusting to a loving home, and can't wait to be a Colorado dog!Other Dogs | Carrie does well with other dogs! She is silly and sweet, but plays with excitement and joy. Cats | Carrie is doing great with the three cats in her foster's home! Children | Carrie loves teens and would do well with kiddos! She is an extremely gentle, loving girl. Training | She is potty trained, crate trained, quiet, and easy going! Leash | Walks well with some excitement. Activity Level | Moderate. She loves to spend her time playing with her foster dog siblings and is learning all about playing with toys now that she's in a loving foster home! She seems fairly calm so far given her young age. Health Notes | Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
