Please read entire description Meet Daphne, a sweet and shy 4-year-old, Dachshund/Poodle mix with a heart of gold. Weighing in at just 12 pounds, Daphne has the adorable long body and short legs of a Dachshund, paired with a unique wire-haired coat. Unfortunately, Daphne’s early life wasn’t the easiest. She was living in a home where she didn’t receive the care she deserved, and after her owner passed away, she was left at a high-kill shelter. At the shelter, Daphne was so frightened and shut down that they considered her unadoptable. Thankfully, rescues stepped in, and Daphne is now in foster care. In her foster home, Daphne has made an incredible transformation! She has blossomed into a loving companion, becoming her foster mom's little shadow and cuddling up whenever she gets the chance. Daphne loves to play fetch. She also loves going for car rides, anything just to be with her person all the more. Daphne is a dog who will follow you to the ends of the earth. However, she does not take to new people very well and is very cautious around them. Daphne would thrive with a person who is home often and can give her the love and attention she craves. A fenced yard would be ideal, especially at first, as she can be a little skittish in new surroundings and is not accustomed to a leash. Daphne is quick and slippery through doorways, so be sure to keep a close eye on her when entering or leaving. She's likely just trying to follow you. She is potty trained and knows how to use a pet door. Due to her timid nature, we are restricting applicants to homes without children. Older gentle children may be okay. Daphne does get tear stains, but there are supplements available to help with that. She's not a fan of grooming but her coat seems to stay the same length.
