Female Dog, Australian Kelpie

Australian Kelpie / Alaskan Klee Kai / Mixed (Medium Coat)

Description:

Please re description thoroughly.Tesla is a beautiful, sleek 2-year-old Kelpie mix weighing around 26 pounds. She gets her name from the unique white "T" marking on her chest. Tesla’s journey began in a shelter, where she arrived in poor condition—extremely thin, dehydrated, and with a swollen belly. Thankfully, she received deworming treatment, flea and tick medication, and began to recover physically, but she remained terrified in the shelter environment. Since moving into a foster home, Tesla has slowly been coming out of her shell. While she is still a shy and submissive girl, she has shown a sweet and affectionate side. She enjoys being petted and follows her foster mom around, though she occasionally retreats to her safe space. Tesla has absolutely no aggression and can be won over quickly with treats. She does have an old injury on her right ear, where a small piece is missing, possibly from a past dog fight. Given her submissive nature, she may have been picked on or had to compete for food. Tesla is very smart—although she was not potty trained when she arrived, she quickly learned to use the pet door and now goes outside on her own. She and the dog she arrived with are eager when it comes to treats and are still learning manners, but they get along well with no signs of aggression. She does well with other dogs but has not been tested with cats, though she would likely be fine. It is believed that she may have had at least one litter of puppies in the past, but she is now spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, and microchipped. Tesla needs a patient and loving home with someone who is around often to help her build trust and confidence while continuing her training. With love and effort, she is sure to become a loyal and devoted companion. After such a rough start in life, she truly deserves a happy ending. If you are interested in giving Tesla the loving home she deserves, please visit www.misfitsdogrescue.org and fill out an application today. Her adoption fee is $275. No small children please she frightens easily. She needs a calm quite home, a yard and someone to exercise her.
