Sweet Karla is sadly getting overlooked. All she wants is a family to love. At 2 years old and 49 pounds, Karla was transferred to the Humane Society of Broward County from Madison County before hurricane Helene hit the area. Karla is a friendly gal who walks well on a leash, is affectionate, likes treats and loves to be pet. She plays with toys, is curious, and may want to try and sit in your lap. Karla has tested positive for heartworm. This is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito and is not contagious to people or other animals. It can be very costly to treat, but the shelter will cover the costs for this so that Karla can live a long healthy life. She just needs a loving family to give her a chance. Are you that family? It is unknown how she is with other pets, so a meet and greet is recommended if you have a dog at home.
