American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (Medium Coat)
Description:
Meet RadarAge: 2 yearsRadar is a fun-loving and energetic dog with a lot to offer in a home that understands his playful and protective nature. His foster family has shared that Radar is affectionate, enjoys snuggles on the couch, and has excellent manners with his favorite people. Radar is house-trained, crate-trained, and uses a doggie door, making him an easy addition to a household.Foster Notes:House Manners: Radar is fully potty-trained and uses a doggie door. He has also been crate-trained, giving him flexibility in new settings.Energy Level: Radar has medium energy. He loves getting the `zoomies` in the backyard, where he enjoys running, chasing balls, and playing with toys.Play Style: He plays appropriately with tug toys and chew toys and has shown no toy or food aggression with his foster family. In doggie daycare, he engages well with other dogs, though sharing toys with another dog may require monitoring.Affectionate: Radar loves snuggling on the couch, receiving pets, and being close to his people.Minor Chewing: While he has mostly stopped chewing household items, in new environments he may need time to settle and understand boundaries.Leash Skills: Radar enjoys walks but will pull to chase cars. His foster is working on reducing this behavior with additional training.Protective Tendencies: Radar is friendly with people outside the home or those who enter with his family, but he can be protective if someone leaves and re-enters. Continued training and supervision will help manage this behavior.Barking: He is not a frequent barker and generally only barks when he hears noises outside or when someone first enters the house.Cat Interactions: Radar is interested in cats and generally wants to play with them. However, in the evenings, he may chase the foster's cat out of the room with more intensity, so he may do best in a home without cats or with supervision around them.Looking For:Radar would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where he can enjoy his zoomies, toys, and snuggle time. An owner experienced with training or willing to continue working on his protective behaviors and leash skills would be ideal. With his affectionate nature, Radar is ready to be a loyal companion to a family who can offer him the structure and love he needs.
