Description:
Friends to the Forlorn Adopt-a-BullBreed: Pit Bull Terrier Gender: Male Estimated Date of Birth: May 21, 2018 Size: 75 lbs Location: Stone Mountain, GA RESCUING GRADY Grady came into Paulding County Animal Control as a stray with a severe case of mange and skin infections. One of our awesome fosters stepped up and Grady got his freedom ride out of the shelter on May 21, 2020. Grady has been with us for a few years now and his mange has cleared up and his skin infection has been treated and continues to be managed. It has been a long road with his skin issues but he is ready for a forever family that can continue with his skin regimen. More info is below about this. ABOUT GRADY Grady is just one big sweet guy looking for a big dog bed and a fun family! His medium-high energy level and his love for people and other dogs make him a gem! Don't hold back with getting your application in on big ole' Grady. He has gone through a hell of a life and had a horrific skin infection when we took him in from the shelter. His skin has healed but will continue to always be a work in progress. He may not grow hair back in some places, like on his back and chest. Don't let the bald spots define who he is or deter you - he doesn't care and it's less hair for you to wash, brush or vacuum up! Grady is going to require some ongoing vet care to keep his skin in tip-top shape and this can get costly. However, seeing him happy with a big smile and observing his will to please, makes the extra care well worth it. He continues to get a medicated bath once a week to keep his skin fresh and clean and tolerates his bath well. He is currently on Apoquel twice a day, antifungal meds once a day, and a skin supplement once a day. He also eats a Prescription food diet recommended by our vet. His skin may change with the seasons and his medical needs and routine can change too. If you are savvy with doggie skin issues Grady needs you! Grady LOVES to eat and is very food motivated so get your training and tricks ready for this smart boy. Grady is housebroken and crate trained so don't worry about accidents. He absolutely loves people and the other dogs in his foster home. He is a little too friendly with the cats and doesn't take a hint from them (although backs off when they hiss), so he would probably do best in a home without cats. Grady is waiting for some snuggles and maybe a female or male dog his size to play with. Extra bonus if his new home has a fenced-in yard as he loves getting outside and running around. An active family that can get him out for walks, hikes, and exercise would help burn off some energy. His new forever family should have large dog experience and be savvy with basic training as he still needs a little work in this area with manners. If your looking for a big beefy boy to share your home with here he is! If you are interested please complete an online adoption application and we will be in touch with you.
