Female Dog,
Unknown Breed
Description:
This is Bessie. A beautiful and sweet shar pei and pitt mix (this is my guess). She is a mega lover and melts when you pet her head. She is approximately 2 years old. She was rescued from the pound about a year and a half ago. At the pound she was scared and unsure of her safety. She had been rescued from the streets of south phoenix prior to the pound. Although she was very timid she warmed up very fast and was all belly rubs and tail wagging. This is still very much her personality. She is leary of strangers. Last time she met someone new at the park i clocked it, it took about 20 minutes of backing up and barking, and then a total switch and she wanted all the love. This stranger was a man and likely the reason it took the 20 minutes. She is slower to accept men, but absolutely accepts them after she knows she is safe. She has grown up around with a standard poodle, beau. The two of the get along perfectly well, though he does kind of pester her to play more than she probably wants. He never wants to stop playing. She is much more on the chill side. She is happy laying in the sun or napping or chewing on a bone. She walks well on a leash though she does pull a bit and bark at other dogs that pass by. She has also grown up around kids. She has improved dramatically recently about not jumping up on kids (or adults) and knows that sitting gets her the most pets. She does occasionally get excited, especially when someone starts running and will jump up out of excitement. Im confident, given a bit more time and direction, this will improve. She cannot be around cats or other prey type animals. Her prey drive is too high. She knows sit, lay, wait, out, in, back up and potty and is working on stay. She has never been to formal training but has picked up the little bit of training she has very quickly. She is the type of dog that praise from her person is all she needs to desire to learn. Treats for sure help, but she lives for praise. She loves those plush throw blankets and does not rip them up. She loves bones of any kind and appreciates the outlet for chewing. She does not like her nails cut but can be bribed with ample treats and someone who knows how to clip them correctly and quickly. She loves baths. She is fully vaccinated, has no health and is already spayed. She is a very loving and loyal dog, please consider giving her a loving forever home. **** Breed: Unknown **** Pet Link: https://www.nokillnetwork.org/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2175801&flag=1
