Male Dog, White German Shepherd
White German Shepherd (Long Coat)
Description:
Male - 8 years - 70 lbs - Microchipped - Neutered - PAPlease meet Bowtie! He is an 8-year-old, 70 lb neutered male who desperately needs a foster home. Bowtie is already housetrained if you keep him on a schedule and go outside with him, he is not a dog who will go out into a fenced yard to potty without a human accompanying him. He is not crated at his current foster home, but he was crated at a previous foster home and did well. He should ideally be crated when he is unsupervised. Bowtie has done well with both men and women when properly introduced on-leash. Visitors to his home can trigger a compulsion sequence where he circles them and barks, so this is generally a stressful event which will need worked on. He has not displayed any aggression. We would prefer a home without small children. Bowtie is neutral towards other dogs and cats; however, his compulsive behavior has agitated various other dogs in previous foster homes and cause those dogs to react aggressively towards Bowtie so if there are other dogs in the home, separation may be required. Bowtie experiences obsessive-compulsive behaviors, displaying through circling and pacing. He is currently medicated with amitriptyline which has been the most effective medication for him. He has shown improvement when he is consistently redirected out of the compulsions early in the behavior sequence. He needs a home committed to continued, consistent training which we will help guide you through. Bowtie walks well on leash and knows some basic commands (sit, down, leave it). He gets readily into cars, but may whine during the travel. He loves toys and will chase them, especially his stuffed lambie or stuffed duck. Bowtie would love to find a committed home to continue working with him. A foster-to-adopt situation is a possibility. Follow me on Facebook: #EchoDogBowtie For more information, please contact [email protected]. Echo Dogs fosters dogs in many states. Visit www.echodogs.org/available-dogs to see more of our dogs. Transportation for the adopted dog IS available. Remember, we are an all-volunteer foster rescue organization - we DO NOT have a physical shelter to visit. Our minimum adoption donation is $350. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Puppies under 6 months old may not be spayed/neutered. This would be the responsibility of the adopter at their own expense. Proof of spay/neuter will be required!
