Winter’s story is one of love and devotion. This 3-year-old, 55-pound Lab mix arrived just in time to bring eight beautiful puppies into the world, and she was an incredible mother. She cared for them tirelessly, always putting their needs before her own, and even when they were ready for solid food, she wasn’t quite ready to stop nurturing them. Now that her puppies have started to find their forever homes, it’s Winter’s turn to be the one who is cherished. Beyond being a devoted mama, Winter is a wonderful companion. She is fully potty trained, does great in a crate, and walks beautifully on a leash. She has some obedience training and knows the "off" command when she gets a little too excited. Winter is friendly and outgoing with everyone she meets, including men, women, strangers, and even young children. Her foster home includes a very energetic four-year-old, and Winter has been nothing but patient and gentle. She also gets along well with dogs of all sizes, making her a great fit for a multi-pet household. Winter loves to play, whether it’s chasing a frisbee, playing fetch, or entertaining herself with squeaky toys. She enjoys spending time in the yard and going for brief walks, but she’s just as happy lounging around the house with her family. She is not a big barker, only speaking up when she hears something unfamiliar outside. She takes treats with the softest mouth and loves having something to chew on to keep herself occupied. Adaptable, happy, and well-mannered, Winter would thrive in just about any home. Whether you’re looking for a playful companion, a gentle family dog, or a laid-back friend to relax with, she is ready to fit right in. After giving so much love to her puppies, Winter is more than ready to receive that same love in return. If you're looking for an affectionate, well-rounded dog to add to your family, Winter could be the perfect match. Her minimum adoption fee is $200 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
