Description:
Please contact DDJ for more information about this pet. Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/ Frida is a 7 month old female Shepherd mix who weighs in at 45 pounds. This dog's adoption fee is $450. If you are still interested, please read more below. Here is what Frida would like you to know about herself: Before coming to ARF, I spent the first 6 months of my life living in a back room with little interaction and not knowing an outside world exists. All I knew was that small place. I was being given away for free otherwise my owner would put me to sleep. Someone thought about saving me and brought me to their house just to realize the family wasn’t ready for a young dog. Once again, at no fault of my own, I was being offered as “free to a good home”. They wanted me out of the house right away, so whoever came first would be allowed to take me. That’s when someone I call my angel contacted ARF and they agreed to take me into their foster program. Now, at my foster home I’m just loving life! I have gotten to know how it feels to chase squirrels and my foster brothers in the yard. I like going for long walks and play a lot. This life is so good compared to being in a back room or locked in a crate for long periods. I do prefer to do my potty off leash in my yard rather than on my walks, so I will do best with a fenced yard of my own. I’m a smart girl and food motivated, which I'm told is a great combination! I learned really quick the sit command and how to patiently wait for my food. I am sleeping through the night in my crate and if in my crate, will bark loudly if I need to go potty. I am doing really well with my potty training. Since coming to my foster home, I am on a schedule and am learning to sit by the door when I really need to go out. I haven't had an accident in about a week now! I have learned the command “go to your place” - which is my crate. This is where I go at bed time or when my fosters are leaving - and of course I like to be rewarded for being such a good girl! Overall, I’m a happy girl, eager to learn and I just love every person I meet. I have improved tremendously walking on a leash. I want to be friends with everyone and like to bark to let them know I want to say hi. My foster is helping me learn my manners and to be quieter when on walks. I would love to have a doggo sibling who can keep up with my energy or an active family so I can burn out all the energy I have. If I sound like the girl you would love to be part of your family, don’t think about it so much! I can’t wait to meet you and have my forever home. I promise I will love you with all my heart. Love, Frida ❤️ Frida is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations and spayed. This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today! Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting. Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/ Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events. Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop!
