Penelope is scheduled for her spay on March 11 and will not be available for adoption outside of a 30-minute radius of Des Moines until after her spay. Penelope came to Iowa from an Oklahoma shelter with her momma Zarah and 8 siblings when she was approximately 5 weeks old. She was assigned a birthdate of 11/23/24 since we don't have an exact date of birth. Penelope is a possible Border Collie/Husky mix and weighs just under 10 lbs. at 10 weeks old. Penelope is sweet and gentle, and loves belly rubs and snuggling. Her favorite toys are balls and squeaky toys. She loves being outside and enjoys bucking like a bronco when she's excited and chasing leaves. She is unique from all of her siblings in that she has back dew claws. These should not be problematic but will require routine nail trims. She will likely do well with cats and kids with proper, slow introductions. Penelope needs an active family that can provide lots of play time and activities that stimulate her mentally. He will not be adopted to a family living in an apartment, condo, or townhouse due to her being vocal at times and needing a yard to play in. We are looking for a family that has experience owning active, vocal dogs and one that can keep up with a very active dog. Another active, social dog living in the home is also a plus.
