Description:
Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying. Thank you for your cooperation.DONATIONS WELCOMED via our Facebook page or website www.roadtorescuela.org NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 10/17/2024: Adleigh - female - 6 years old - 40.12 pounds - Basset Hound Reason for intake: Adleigh came to us from a municipal shelter. She was a stray but the owner came forward. Long story, but she was ultimately surrendered. We were asked if we could take her in and of course, we love the Bassets so we absolutely took her in. Her poor body definitely exhibits neglect she has probably suffered for years. She has some significant skin issues... oozing and bleeding open sores. On intake we took her directly to the vet for a skin scrape and while they suspected mange, they did not find any mites. She got a Bravecto to help battle whatever is going on. She has goopy and infected eyes and a staph infection which is also being treated with antibiotics and other medications. She has had so many litters that her right mammary chain nearly touches the ground (you can see it in the picture). We're not sure if our vet will be able to do a nip and tuck on this or not but we are going to try because there is no way that's going to draw up. We believe she was just bred over and over again without any breaks. We've seen many dogs with sagging skin from litters but really not anything like this. Right now, she's healing at our rescue and will be going back to the vet in a week or so to get everything else done. Despite feeling like crap... she has the best personality. We fell in love right away! NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS: Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed. Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining. In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason. We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption. In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered. Please note… we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption. Please wait until the dog is available for adoption. We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.416768288349589&type=3 OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org.
