Female Dog, Terrier
Terrier / Mixed (Short Coat)
Description:
COOKIE Female, spayed 1 year, 8 months Terrier mix 32 lbs. Microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines and takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention Completed 5-week board and train I'm Cookie and my tail is always wagging with excitement! I might have started my journey as a stray, but now I'm on the hunt for my forever family. Here's a little bit about me: I have been in my foster home for seven months and my foster moms have been so patient with me. They have helped me learn how to be a dog. You see, I never quite learned how to be a dog…I was in one foster home after another and never got the full attention that I needed. Unfortunately, sometimes it’s easy to give up on me because when you first meet me, I am so anxious and excited about meeting somebody new that I can’t calm my brain down and I start to pull on my leash and sometimes "yell" in my excitement . When getting to know new people indoors, I think that maybe they're going to steal my toy so I may growl at them. So many people have given up on me that it’s hard for me to trust. But, my current foster family knew that they couldn’t give up on me. Now, my foster moms give me kisses on my face and pet and play with me while I have my toy in my mouth, no growling necessary because I've learned to trust them! I really love to chase things and I think squirrels would make a delicious meal, so I get excited and pull when I see them outside. My foster moms are good at seeing the squirrels before I do and keeping me on the right track! I need a forever home that is willing to give me the structure that I crave, someone who will be patient with me as I learn to trust them. Once I do trust you, I’m not sure anything in the world could love you more than I do! I love to snuggle on the couch and my very favorite thing is fluffy blankets! I love to cuddle with my people and give them kisses. There’s one more thing, I don’t really know how to act around other dogs. I have two foster dog siblings and they are very nice and don’t bother me, but my foster moms told me its not a good idea for me to play with them because sometimes I don’t understand their limits. Strange dogs on the street make me very nervous and I may make lots of noise when I pass them, but, with continued structure, this can be curbed too! I am working so hard to be good and find my forever home, it just takes me some time to settle in. I would really love to live somewhere that’s not in a city…there are too many people and dogs and things to look at that it makes me overly aroused. I love to go outside in my foster moms’ backyard because they have a nice tall fence that I can walk around and smell and explore all I want while staying safe. I would really love a home with a fence, barriers make me feel safe (I love my crate too as long as there are PLENTY of fluffy blankets in there!) Thanks for reading this long, I promise to love you if you choose to take a chance on me! Interested in adopting? Of course you are! Submit an application here!
