Male Dog, Labrador Retriever

Labrador Retriever / Beagle / Mixed (Short Coat)

Description:

Name: Darius Sex: Male Estimated Age: About 6 months old (as of 3/13/25) Best Guess for Breed: Lab/Beagle Mix Weight: About 25 lbs (as of 3/13/25) Lives With: Dogs, cats and people! Housebroken? Yes, he’s housebroken! Story: Darius was rescued from a shelter in North Carolina. We are so happy to have him safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Darius is a happy sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. He knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with his humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Darius is just looking for someone to be his new best furend and we know that he will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Like all dogs, Darius will need an adopter who is committed to setting him up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising him both mentally and physically. He will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! What my foster says: Darius (“Darry”) is the bestest boy! He is incredibly sweet natured and just wants to be near his people. He is definitely still a puppy with lots of puppy energy – he loves a good game of catch in the yard and even brings the ball back (usually) for another throw. After a vigorous catch session and some zoomies around the yard, he’s ready to curl up by your feet and nap hard (he does snore, in the cutest way). He's done great with potty training! Darius loves to snuggle and tries to fit in your lap :). Darius would benefit from a puppy obedience class but already shows he’s a quick learner and definitely wants to please his people. He can be very exuberant in his greetings but responds well to correction. He does love to chew (paper, cardboard, sticks, tennis balls) so some heavy duty chew toys would make him happy and keep him away from things that shouldn’t be chewed. He is very friendly towards other dogs and cats -- although, he is still learning that cats may not want to play. Because he is still a puppy and doesn’t yet have a sense of his size or strength, he could accidentally knock over a little one if he got excited; training should help with this. Darius is not a fan of the car and will need some patience on this front. After only a few weeks he's doing great in the crate! Darius will make an awesome family pet who will love all his people unconditionally and be a loyal and faithful companion. The fee to adopt Darius is $475. That covers the cost of all his vaccines, his neuter, the collar he’s wearing, his transport to DC and his care in his foster home. He’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. If you think that Darius might be your perfect match, apply today!
