Pug (Medium Coat)

Description:

Pug Rescue of New England (PRoNE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer foster home based rescue organization. Meet NORI! Nori is a 2.5 year old male pug. He is a snuggler, loves to play with humans and loves walks and car rides. Nori walks well on the leash while exploring the neighborhood. He loves nothing more than snuggling and being close to his humans. He can have some separation anxiety and whine when his human leaves. Nori will also dance and spin in circles with glee when he sees his human. He enjoys playtime with the children in the home and independently with a toy. Nori is housebroken and does well on a routine potty schedule. He also knows how to settle in for a day of work after a walk in the morning. After being in his Foster Home for a few weeks it was observed he gets anxious meeting strangers coming into the home and has acted dominant towards them. This has been observed only to be when coming into the home vs. meeting people outside the home. Introducing him to new people will take some patience and thought. Specifics on how this is being handled by the Foster Home will be shared with prospective adopters. Nori does resource guard his people and property, so at this time we are recommending no animals living in the home. Nori is very motivated by treats and food and the Foster Home is using this to advance his training as well as aid in him needing to gain a few pounds. He is learning basic commands like sit, stay, and leave it. Nori came into rescue underweight and had spots of hair missing and a skin condition. This has been addressed with a special food; "Just For Dogs" that is helping along with a Cytopoint injection every 4-6 weeks to keep his fur healthy and skin healing. We encourage his future adopters to discuss this treatment combination with their own veterinarian for the best solution that meets his needs. All special diet foods and allergy medications will be an investment in your pet's health. We ask potential adopters to take this under advisement before applying for him. If you believe you would be an AMAZING family for NORI , please submit an Adoption Application for him! Adoption Requirements for NORI- A fenced-in yard or a secured plan is needed. Dog respectful children 8+ are welcome. Daily walks are a must for him. Nori's ideal home would be where family members are committed to spending quality time with him and keep a schedule where he is not alone > 4 hours without a check in. Great for WFH family. Owner committed and financially able to provide well visits and Heartworm/Flea & Tick preventative and maintain his special diet and allergy regime. NORI'S Adoption Fee= $750.00 (Fee based on age) If you are interested in adopting, your home situation MUST meet this criteria: A vet reference check, dog walker check (if applicable), landlord check (if applicable), a phone interview and home visit will be conducted prior to approval. If you think a pug is right for your family and you meet the criteria, please apply to adopt on our website at www.pugrescueofnewengland.org. BE SURE TO REFERENCE THE SPECIFIC PUG! Our mission is simple: we find homes for abandoned and surrendered pugs in New England. Our pugs will be UTD on shots and spayed or neutered prior to adoption. You must be a resident of the New England states. Due to a change in state regulations, we are no longer adopting outside of New England. PRoNE is supported by adoption fees, donations and funds raised through auctions and events. Adoption fees range from $200-$1,000 which is based on age of the dog. Effective in January 2023, we have imposed a $150 Spay/Neuter Fee (if required) and a $500 Transportation Fee (For dogs requiring air/cargo travel).
