Male Dog, Pug

Pug / Chihuahua / Mixed (Medium Coat)

Description:

Pug Rescue of New England (PRoNE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer foster home based rescue organization. Meet ROCKY & GEORGIA! ***AVAILABLE*** Rocky & Georgia are a Dynamic Duo and a bonded pair of amazingly sweet dogs! Rocky is a 6 year old male who is a Chug (Part Chihuahua and Pug). He is the more independent of the pair and very loving. He likes sleeping under the bed as much as on the bed with his humans. He has a great spirit and marches to his own beat. He will cuddle when he wants to, plays well with the other dogs in his Foster Home and even plays with the family bird who enjoys a good fly around the house! Rocky enjoys spending time outdoors, sunning in the yard and he is a “go with the flow" type of dog. He is not a big barker unless others are barking and then of course he is always willing to join in the chorus. He came into PRONE with limited medical history and a bump under his eye called Cherry Eye. We have had this evaluated and although sometimes this condition warrants surgery, in Rocky's case, it does not warrant any procedure. His vision is not compromised and is not causing discomfort. He awaits a neutering procedure and will be good to go! Georgia is a 4 year old French Bulldog, who in keeping with the breed, has no problem expressing herself and letting her presence be known. She lets you know when she wants attention and plays well with the other dogs in the Foster Home. She has a nice temperament and wants to be friends with everyone she meets. Georgia does not like being excluded from the fun or action. Her special skill is that she can catch a treat from a few feet away, especially if it is chicken! She can be possessive over toys; especially if the dogs are not part of her inner circle pack. She gives a warning/stern correction if they come too close to her however if it is Rocky, he gets a free pass! These two came into PRONE together and are bonded with each other through their play, cuddling and spending one on one time together. They especially love going for walks and meeting new people. They are often found snuggling together like an old couple. Since they are both little explorers, we would recommend a fenced in yard, however a secured solution may work for them. On their walks they handle easily on the leash and their reactivity is manageable. Georgia likes to bark from excitement and they love meeting people on their route. Though they have not experienced cats in their Foster Home, their surrendering owner conveyed to us they may chase them (most likely for fun)! We believe they would do best with older children (6+) who are dog savvy and respectful. They are currently not being fostered with children in the home, however their previous owner stated they have been successfully around them. We believe they would love an active family experience due to them both being social butterflies. They do well on car rides after taking a few minutes to settle in. Overall, they are great souls that love to please their humans! If you believe you would be an AMAZING family for ROCKY & GEORGIA , please submit an Adoption Application for them! Adoption Requirements for ROCKY & GEORGIA- A fenced-in yard or a secured plan is needed. Dog savvy and respectful children are welcome +6 No experience with cats. Be open to taking walks to encourage socialization and exercise. Would do well with other companion animals or they would love to be the center of your world. Rocky & Georgia' 's ideal home would be where family members are committed to spending quality time with him and keep to a schedule where he is not left alone > six hours without a check in. Owner committed and financially able to provide well visits and Heartworm/Flea & Tick preventative. ROCKY & GEORGIA'S Adoption Fee is $950.00 Rocky- $400.00 (based on age 6) + $150.00 (Neuter Fee) - $200.00 (mix breed & pair discount) Georgia- $550.00 (based on age 4) - $50.00 (pair discount) If you are interested in adopting, your home situation MUST meet this criteria: A vet reference check, dog walker check (if applicable), landlord check (if applicable), a phone interview and home visit will be conducted prior to approval. If you think a pug is right for your family and you meet the criteria, please apply to adopt on our website at www.pugrescueofnewengland.org. BE SURE TO REFERENCE THE SPECIFIC PUG! Our mission is simple: we find homes for abandoned and surrendered pugs in New England. Our pugs will be UTD on shots and spayed or neutered prior to adoption. You must be a resident of the New England states. Due to a change in state regulations, we are no longer adopting outside of New England. PRoNE is supported by adoption fees, donations and funds raised through auctions and events. Adoption fees range from $200-$1,000 which is based on age of the dog. Effective in January 2023, we have imposed a $150 Spay/Neuter Fee (if required) and a $500 Transportation Fee (For dogs requiring air/cargo travel). Pug Mixes will be discounted by $100 off the fee for their age range.
