Keep calm and woof on.

Male Dog, Pit Bull Terrier
Pit Bull Terrier (Medium Coat)
Description:
Gandolph initially came to TJO in May of 2024, underweight and wary of new people, but with time and love from his previous owner he has come out of his shell beautifully! He loves to play with both people and other dogs, though he can play a bit too roughly for some. OTHER PETS: Gandolph would likely do well living with other dogs, but because he tends to prefer a rough & rowdy play style, he should meet any other dogs he would be living with to ensure a good fit. Gandolph has also previously lived with cats, and seemed to do well with them! Slow introductions will help ensure a good match. Likely (Must Meet First) OWNER EXPERIENCE: Gandolph may still be timid with new people, and will do best with someone who has the patience to help him settle into his new home; any prior experience helping dogs build confidence would be helpful in making Gandolph feel safe. Some Experience KIDS: Gandolph is a strong dog that can get a little overexcited with his favorite people--often jumping up and pulling forward on the leash to meet them. Additionally, he's a big lover of food! Dropped a piece of food in the kitchen? Nope, Gone! But he hasn't shown signs of resource guarding during his stay here, so he would likely do well with kids in the home, as long as they're not likely to be knocked over easily. 12+ (Must Meet First) ACTIVITY LEVEL: Gandolph may prove to have more energy than he is currently exhibiting in the kennels once he is settled in and feels safe in his new home. He enjoys spending time outside and using his nose to explore the world around him. Multiple daily walks and plenty of mental enrichment would be ideal for Gandolph. Good Walking Buddy VETERINARY CARE: Routine GROOMING: Minimal LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Gandolph gain confidence and build trust with his new owner, as well as help him learn important skills. Gandolph can be nervous around new things, and may need extra support and confidence-building in a new home and environment. With the support of his owner and some patience, Gandolph will be able to tackle any challenge set before him. He currently pulls on the leash and jumps up on tables, but nothing that can't be helped with a bit of positive reinforcement! Minimal
