Keep calm and woof on.

Female Dog, Labrador Retriever
Labrador Retriever / Mixed (Medium Coat)
Description:
OTHER PETS: Nunu is more outgoing with dogs than humans and her playfulness shines through. She invited play from all the dogs she met though she may be a little intimidated by dogs with rough/over the top play styles. Nunu's foster reported that she coexisted well with the resident cats. As with all our adoptable dogs, Nunu should meet any dogs she would be living with prior to adoption. Likely (Must Meet First) OWNER EXPERIENCE: Nunu's best fit would be with a human who is able to help her feel safe (or at least increasingly safe) from the start. She needs support to build her confidence and live a happy life. Some Experience KIDS: Nunu is comfortable with people she knows but still takes time to warm up to new people. She is uncomfortable with some handling (especially near the wounds on her hind area) but also enjoys crawling into the laps of those she likes. Nunu is easily startled - high pitched noises, flailing hands, and sudden movements are very scary for her. Humans who can help Nunu feel confident in her snuggles, and safe in her requests to not be handled would be her best fit, and should meet her before adoption. 15+ / Dog Savvy (Must Meet First)ACTIVITY LEVEL: Nunu initially wasn't feeling well, then was on activity restriction for the beginning of her stay at TJO. Now that she is feeling better she is a playful walking buddy but she may have even more energy once she is settled, confident, and supported. She would do best currently with daily walks and play sessions, and would likely do well as an adventure companion since it would enable her to follow her people wherever they go. Good Walking Buddy / Olympic Athlete VETERINARY CARE: Nunu came to TJO wounded and needed some extra time and love to heal up before becoming available for adoption; she is still sensitive about her wound areas being touched but has also been a good patient for her check ups. Nunu should have a good relationship with a vet just in case there are any unforseen complications down the road from her mishap. Above AverageLEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Nunu bond with her owner and build confidence, as well as ensuring she has a mastery of basic commands and behavioral expectations. It was reported that Nunu was destructive in her foster home while alone for a short time, she will need encouragement and patience while learning her expectations. Further training could provide her with a library of tricks, enable her to participate in dog sports or become an adventure companion to her human. ModerateGROOMING: Minimal
