Female Dog, Pit Bull Terrier

Pit Bull Terrier (Medium Coat)

Description:

Some dogs are naturally timid or shy, while others may not have learned to trust people while they were young. These dogs need to feel safe before they will interact with people; the work to build a relationship of trust could be a long and hard one but the experience can be one of the most rewarding of dog ownership. Chicken Little Dogs: are fearful of new people and places, take time to trust, shut down here at the shelter, and will bite if people push or try to interact too quickly. However, once they trust a person, the often become very bonded.OTHER PETS: Rochelle became a bit more comfortable when introduced to other dogs, but she can get overwhelmed with those that are high-energy. She would likely do best with another dog that is calm but confident, and will give her space when she needs it. Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)OWNER EXPERIENCE: Someone who can be dedicated to providing support to Rochelle while she adjusts to new environments and situations, and letting her acclimate at her own pace, would be ideal. Some ExperienceKIDS: Rochelle is a nervous dog, and will likely do best with kids that are able to understand how to interact with her, and when to let her have her own space. Case-by-Case (Must Meet First)ACTIVITY LEVEL: While Rochelle hasn't been very active here at TJO, it's possible that she could become much more playful and energetic as she becomes more comfortable in her new home. She hasn't had much interest in toys, but she does seem to enjoy running around outside with some other dogs. Couch Potato / Good Walking Buddy VETERINARY CARE: RoutineLEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Rochelle is still at the beginning of her positive reinforcement training journey, and will do best learning with someone who can offer both patience, a slow pace, and confidence while she adjusts. Positive reinforcement training will help Rochelle not only learn some basics, but also help her to feel more comfortable and confident in herself! It will provide a good opportunity for her to bond with her new owner as well. ModerateGROOMING: Routine brushing will help to minimize shedding in the home. Minimal
