Female Dog, American Pit Bull Terrier

American Pit Bull Terrier / American Staffordshire Terrier (Short Coat)

Description:

Meet a Girl Named Lou (like a Boy Named Sue)! This 9-month old demure pup was born into a local family who saved her mama from the South, not knowing she was pregnant. Her owner reached out to our rescue to help place 3 of the pups in this litter and Lou is the only one left need of a great home. Sweet Lou is easygoing and a professional snuggler with both humans and dogs! She’s got the deepest, inkiest, soulful eyes and a goofy smile. In fact, it’s obvious there is potential for deep connection with her people. Her right ear has a mind of its own and will constantly be flopped over as if she were standing in a windstorm. Lou is lanky and lean and sneaks behind her foster family to adorn their ears and cheeks with sooooo many kisses. She loves watching television or video games, and loves, loves, loves playing with toys or other dogs in the yard. And will bound with gusto through leaf piles or snow like a baby deer. LouLou previously loved farm life for her first 6 months, and now that she’s out and about in the big city, has adapted to new noises and experiences. She takes a hot minute to warm up to new situations (don’t we all?) and would likely prefer a quieter environment. But with patience and love, this innocent black beauty will come around and quickly become the ultimate friend. Though initially shy and timid to try new things, Lou has done great with routine and consistency and has conquered urban leash walks with newfound confidence (and her four perfect little, white-socked feet!). She is perfectly housetrained and crate trained, is nondestructive and great for nail trims, and puts herself to bed without being asked. Though taking a little while to warm up with new people and new situations, she is incredibly loving and affectionate and outgoing with her people. Lou is hilariously funny with her quirky personality (she jumped into the middle of a full-size hedge to say hello to a bird earning her the nickname Bush Jumper). She is agile and spry but doesn’t demand a ton of exercise. And with her soft black and white coat, has an elegance that transcends reality for this fun-loving gal. She has been terrific with dogs and cats and would love a canine sibling or playmate. Due to her size and lack of history, older kids would be best for this big puppy. Lou’s top 3 priorities: 1. A family who will be patient to let Lou adjust to a new home and come out of her shell in her own time (which, with love and kindness, won’t take long at all!). 2. A family who fosters a low-key atmosphere in a quiet home with a canine sibling or frequent playmate to give her confidence. 3. A family who adores puppy kisses (bonus: one with a fenced-in yard)! ** Puppy training at an approved facility will be required, with proof of registration prior to adoption.
