Male Dog, Labrador Retriever

Labrador Retriever / Shepherd / Mixed

Description:

Fallon is a wise, old soul. He is a Lab/Shepherd X with an approx DOB of 1/20/2022. He’s taking in new experiences as if he’s done all this before! Nothing is too urgent, except for meal time! He loves play time with other dogs and older children. He hasn't had a lot of exposure to children under the age of 10 so slow, controlled intros are advised. He has a nose to hunt and playfully enjoys chasing the chipmunks out of their hiding spots around the yard. He's quite an outdoor explorer, never quite ready to come inside. That being said, he quickly learned the underground fence boundaries and is no longer pushing the limits. He is crate trained, but as he gets older he's more and more comfortable outside of his crate and sometimes needs treat motivation to go in on his own. He loves hugs and snuggles and is always open to curling up in an available lap. Fallon is a medical needs dog. He has urinary incontinence, which requires him to wear belly bands at all times. He is on a strong dose of Proin 2x per day and a monthly testosterone injection, which helps some but he will always be a leaky boy. Changing his pads in his belly band a couple times per day is going to be very important to maintaining his hygiene to avoid urine scalding (burning of the skin due to prolonged exposure to urine). Commands he has learned include “sit”, “down”, “inside”, “outside” and “kennel”. He is making progress with stay, wait, stop and come. He has been with Wags & Whiskers since he was about 10 weeks old but as you can imagine it has taken the rescue a while to figure out what was "wrong" with him. He is now finally ready to find his forever family and we are hoping that his anotomical issues won't deter him from finding a home. He really is a sweet boy that will need a special adopter that is home often and willing to work with his leaky faucet Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Please go to our website www.wagsmn.org and fill out an Adoption Application. Once the application is processed, a Wags representative will contact you, answer any questions you may have, and set up a time/location for a meet and greet! A home visit is required prior to adoption. Thank you for choosing to adopt! Breed and temperament determination: Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue attempts to determine breed and temperament using a combination of looks, information provided to us at intake, and our experience with the animal while in our Rescue. We do not guarantee this determination.
