Female Dog, American Pit Bull Terrier

American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (Long Coat)

Description:

Aline found herself dumped at a high kill shelter in West Texas with a broken pelvis. She has had surgery and is recovering well. She is good with other dogs, and older children, cats and younger kids are unknown. Vet does not believe she is a APBT, believes she is a smaller terrier mix, but APBT was put on her rabies cert. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training. Aline is a super sweet girl who suffered some trauma likely from getting hit by a car and needed surgery on her back leg. The vets in Texas did the surgery and she wasn't healing as quickly as they hoped. So the 2 options were to either amputate or do some intensive therapy to see if that would work. The vet took her home and worked on her for a few months and she recovered beautifully...he did not want to take her leg. So now, she says I am ready for my forever home...let's talk!! Aline is potty trained, crate trained, and walks well on a leash with a harness or collar. She eats with a slow feeder in her kennel & sleeps in her kennel! It's her safe space. She is still working on gaining some weight and loves getting extra treats or bones to keep her busy! She chews on appropriate things like bones and other chews. Peanut butter is a favorite, so watch out if you're making a sandwich, she will patiently wait for her portion. She would do best with a dog sibling to play with! She loves to play, wrestle, and cuddle with her foster brother. She follows him every where and loves to let him take the lead. With her prior leg surgery, sometimes she needs to take a break during play time to let her body rest up or she may limp. After a rest she's ready to go again! She absolutely loves being outside! Running around the yard or just simply laying in the dirt! She also loves to help me garden & is always right by me while I do all the hard work! She LOVES water. if there isn't a pool available she may take a dip in her water dish. This sweet girl will need a little time to adjust to a new environment & build trust with her humans, but it only takes a short time before she is your best friend. Once you've earned her trust she will show you by giving you kisses, being a wiggle butt, smiling, and just wanting to be next to you! She has been great with the kids (7,5,3) just make sure they show her respect & go slow at first! First priority will go to someone who lives in the twin cities metro in order to bring to a vet visit in Maple Grove, MN. Please put in your application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.
