Female Dog, Pit Bull Terrier

Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (Short Coat)

Description:

High-energy, social butterfly gal Maple is on the lookout for her next adventure buddy! At just under a year and a half old, Maple has just graduated out of adolescence and into adulthood. Unlike her puppy and teenager counterparts, Maple knows that potty time is best done outdoors, that kennel time is for chilling out, and that “Sit” means her booty is on the floor. She even knows how to “stay” for short periods of time! Maple really shines when she is meeting new people. Whether it’s new folks who come to her foster home, or she is out and about within the community, Maple LOVES to love on humans. She has shown no stranger danger whatsoever except towards young children; in which case she has chosen to hide/get away. With adulthood comes a need or focus on health, and Maple is no exception. She loves her veggies (carrots and broccoli are her favorite thus far) and she loves her daily cardio. If her new owners like to run outdoors, she will be so very happy, but she is also content chasing the squirrels in the yard as well. Like many adults, Maple has a nice “off” switch and loves getting in her daily naps in the sunshine, as well.Maple could absolutely be a candidate for apartment living, as she is quiet as a mouse when indoors, showing no signs of separation anxiety at her foster home. If she were to live in an apartment, her owners would need to feel comfortable ensuring she has some distance from other dogs, as Maple has a love/hate relationship with other doggos. What does this mean? Maple appears to be dog social in terms of wanting to interact/play with other dogs. However, she gets so overstimulated so quickly when she is around other dogs, that it tips into reactivity. Thus, for now Maple is seeking to be the only dog in the home and should remain the only dog in the home unless her owners are willing and able to work with her on her stimulus control issues. She has also shown that cats are a no go for her because they are just too darn fun to chase! We know that any dog who is seeking a no-dog living environment is a hard sell. Especially one that also needs a home with no small children around. But we hope that Maple’s many pawsitive attributes – potty trained, crate trained, super friendly with new people – will grab the attention of that special home she so very much deserves.Maple is currently being fostered by a wonderful MACC volunteer, and she’s available to meet prospective adopters with a simple adoption appointment request. You can make this by calling 612-673-6222 M-F between 9AM-5PM and speaking with a MACC staff member!
