His journey began as a stray on a South Dakota reservation, where he was found underweight and suffering from mange. After receiving the care he needed, he’s now thriving with a shiny new coat and steadily gaining weight as he continues to reach his full potential. This gentle soul is always wagging his tail and loves to be near his people. While he was once shy, Amado’s confidence has grown, and he’s now an affectionate, playful companion. He’s doing great with other dogs after proper introductions, and he even met a cat recently! He’s very interested in them and would likely do well with dog-savvy cats.Amado is fully house-trained and excellent with kids. He’s very treat-motivated, and he's actively learning commands such as “Sit” and “Shake,” as well as working on not jumping up on people. He enjoys hanging out in the backyard and is calm and well-behaved inside the house.Amado would make an incredible hiking buddy for an active family, and his calm nature and love for walks make him a great companion for anyone seeking a loyal friend. He has learned that when his foster mom puts her tennis shoes on, it's time for a walk - one of his favorite activities. Ready to find his forever home, he’s eager to bring his love and joy to a family who can help him continue growing into the amazing companion he’s becoming.Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption.
