Akeh is a very sweet, goofy boy who is looking for a patient, loving household that can provide support and guidance as he becomes more confident and settles into a new environment and routine. He enjoys going for walks and is pretty good on a leash but will get easily distracted if you let him. We've been working with him on boundaries and overall manners and he is getting better every day. He is very treat motivated and needs someone willing to continue to work with him on his basic obedience. When we first got him he was more energetic indoors but is enjoying being outside in the yard more and more. He loves kongs and heavy duty toys and bones and is very good about sharing toys. We think Akeh could be ok in a household as an only dog but also could thrive with a dog similar in size to match his play style. His energy level is primarily moderate but he can have periods of high energy when wanting to play and getting the zoomies. Sometimes it seems as though he doesn't realize how big he is and he just wants to play so he would probably do best in a home with no small children. Not cat tested, but was exposed to a few kittens at Petsmart – showed no prey drive, just sniffing through kennel curiosity. Akeh does extremely well in the car and the kennel. We use the kennel at night and a fews days a week when at work. And we do also use his kennel every now and then to help him decompress when he needs to shut down for a few minutes. When using the kennel for this purpose he will let you know when he is ready to come out and can be vocal when he wants to be. If he has the option to sit or lay next to you on the couch he will take you up on that as he loves being close to his people. He really is a very sweet guy and doesn't have a mean bone in his body!
