Description:
Maeve is a beautiful German Shepherd puppy who is on the search for her new best friend. She came to Saving Shepherds of MN after she was dumped along with her 3 siblings. They were very thin and needed time to gain weight and learn how to live in the house. Maeve is doing very well and is potty trained in her foster home. She is a very happy girl who loves to play and loves to run the show. She will be a dominant female who will need someone that wants to play and work with her to teach her how to be on her best behavior. She learns quickly, is very food motivated, and knows basic commands already (sit, down, kennel, outside). She will need to continue to work on obedience. Maeve is vocal and will bark often while playing and alert you to all of the predators outside of your home (people ringing the doorbell, the mailman or the dreaded garbage truck). She likes to walk behind you and snap her mouth like a snapping turtle when she is excited, most notably at mealtime. She waits patiently while you get her food ready and then quickly runs to her kennel to wait for her meal. Maeve likes other dogs but does like to lick their face a lot so she would do well with a patient sibling dog to keep her in line. She does listen to the dominant dog at her foster home but will push around the more submissive dogs. Maeve is learning to walk on a leash, does well in the car and is crate trained. She is not a snuggly dog (yet anyway). She will come up for quick pets or will lay on the couch near you but is not interested in laying with people. Maeve loves to run and play in the snow, explore outside and chase her sister (Emma). She is not destructive and has just chewed on the toys that are for the dogs, but will occasionally steal socks, slippers, shirts or the towels from the kitchen and lay with them. Maeve will make an amazing member of your family!
