Female Dog, Cocker Spaniel
Cocker Spaniel
Description:
Katy is a very special 10 week old puppy with special needs. She was born with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). VSD is a congenital heart defect in which a small hole remains between the two ventricles of the heart. Katy has been seen by a Cardiologist who performed an echocardiogram. The cardiologist feels like she has a good chance at a normal life span with her quality of life not being significantly affected. Although Katy’s prognosis seems good right now, a definitive prognosis cannot be determined until she is fully grown. There is always a possibility of heart failure which may need to be treated with medication as she ages. Katy will need to have another echo done at 6 months, 12 months of age then yearly after that. At this time she is not having any symptoms and is a VERY happy and playful puppy who would love to have a home to call her home. Katy is a spaniel mix (Mama is a cocker spaniel) and weighs 4lbs. She has been microchipped and her adoption will include all vaccinations and spay. If you are interested in giving this special girl a home please apply at tireddogrescue.com.
